Bataras Bundusan : Here We Come !

Bataras Hypermarket at Jalan Bundusan, Penampang will be having a year end promotion of Sabah-made products on 30th and 31st December 2017.

We would like to thank both the management of Bataras and the Department of Industrial Development and Research (DiDR) for inviting us to showcase our local SME products.

Our SSO team together with the local SME participants will be at Bataras Bundusan for the next two days. Please drop by to support us ! We will keep you updated with the activities.


Meanwhile, you can now purchase our local Sabah products on two dedicated racks in Bataras Bundusan. Among the featured products are: Sabah Cocoa, Aramai Lemongrass drink, Jus Bambangan, Santiqi snacks and many more.

MIED Sarawak Study Trip to SSO

We were very happy to have received a courtesy visit from the delegates from Kementrian Pembangunan Perindustrian dan Usahawan Sarawak (MIED Sarawak) on 15th December 2017. The study trip was led by MIED’s permanent secretary (Setiausaha Tetap), Datu Liaw Soon Eng.

The event started off with a brief introduction about the Shared Services & Outsourcing (SSO), presented by Softwise’s CEO Mr. Darren Lo. We exchanged information on the various government initiatives by both the Sabah and Sarawak states.

The highlight of the day was the visit to SSO’s warehouse in Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP). The delegates were shown how we manage the inventory of various SME producers. We also demonstrated the process of tagging local products with barcodes, as part of the requirements of local supermarkets.

MIDF Approves RM2.1bn Soft Loans for SME

Excerpt from The Malaysian Reserve, 5th Dec 2017,

Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Bhd (MIDF) will continue supporting local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) on their journey towards the fourth Industry Revolution in approving RM2.1 billion under the soft loan scheme for automation and modernation (SLSAM).

Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Chua Tee Yong (picture) said the federal government had allocated RM1.1 billion for SLSAM, and another RM450 million is to be given between 2018 and 2020.

He also said the recent Budget 2018 announcement is indeed vital to business communities as it provides support to all sectors, particularly SMEs, with total allocation to this segment at RM22.2 billion.

He said globally, a few sectors are aggressively shaping up towards Industry 4.0, such as electrical and electronics, automotive, industrial manufacturing, chemicals, logistics and engineering, and construction, with estimated investments of up to US$907 billion (RM3.68 trillion) until 2020. – Bernama

You Like It Sweet or Salty?

This morning, Encik Haryantto Satuan, the founder of Hafiszuddin Kerepek Pisang (Banana chips) dropped by our Shared Services Center (SSO) to deliver his freshly made chips.

Hafiszuddin produces two flavours of his tasty banana chips :
– Kerepek Pisang Manis (Sweet)
– Kerepek Pisang Masin (Salty)

Usaha Maju Dh has been producing banana chips for a couple of years. Their factory is located at No 10, Lot 147, Lrg Buah Mempelam 1E, Taman Sepangar, Kota Kinabalu 88450.

Keep Up with e-Commerce to Stay Competitive

Kota Kinabalu Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCCI) president Datuk Michael Lui has urged his members to keep up with e-commerce in order to remain competitive.

Lui said KKCCCI would continue to organize seminars and briefings on the latest trends knowing that digital marketing was vital to ecommerce entrepreneurship and sales

He said KKCCCI has the responsibility to lead its members and businesses towards Industry 4.0 in view of the opportunities brought about by the Digital Free Trade Zone (DFTZ) in Malaysia

The Importance of Branding and Packaging

Producing your own product is the first step for many entrepreneurs. However, to be a successful businessman, you need to strategize in your branding, packaging and delivery. Your product needs to be appealing to the targeted customers.

The Agriculture and Local Produce Ministry is aware of the difficulties faced by many of our local entrepreneurs. Together with Lembaga Kemajuan Ikan Malaysia (LKIM) Negeri Sabah, they organised a 4-day seminar covering a variety of topics from budget planning to retail sales.

We are very thankful to the ministry for inviting us to share our experience in SSO supply chain services to the participants.

SME Sector Create More Jobs

The Assistant Industrial Development Minister Datuk Bolkiah Ismail mentioned that the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) sector had increased job opportunities in Sabah to 452,021 in the year 2015, compared to 324,438 in 2010.

“The SME sector contributed 98% of business growth in Sabah, in general, and played a big role in the contribution to the GDP in the state especially” He told the State Legislative Assembly.

 …the new programmes implemented by the ministry, such as the Shared Services Outsourcing Center (SSO), had helped to market SME products to supermarkets and shops…
